ARACT INFORMS MEMBERS OF NEW RAC TECHNICIAN REGULATIONS
Belmopan, Belize. January 7, 2026. The Association of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technicians (ARACT) wishes to inform its members, industry stakeholders, and the general public of the introduction of the Refrigeration Technicians Regulations, 2025, recently issued by the Government of Belize through the Department of the Environment (DOE), Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Solid Waste Management.
ARACT advises that, under the new regulations, refrigeration and air-conditioning technicians will be required to:
- Obtain appropriate training and certification for the handling & use of refrigerants;
- Utilize approved tools and environmentally responsible servicing practices;
- Prevent the intentional release (venting) of refrigerants into the atmosphere.
- Specific Requirements for Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technicians
Under the Refrigeration Technicians Regulations, 2025, all practicing refrigeration and air-conditioning technicians must be certified by the Association of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technicians (ARACT).
The regulations also place responsibilities on employers and service providers to ensure that technicians operate safely, professionally, and in compliance with environmental laws.
ARACT encourages all refrigeration and air-conditioning technicians, including non-members, to familiarize themselves with the new regulations and to take early steps toward compliance. Membership in the Association offers exclusive benefits, including access to updated technical information, training opportunities, and, most importantly, representation on issues affecting the RAC industry. For further information or guidance, technicians are encouraged to contact the Association.
